We have been offered an amazing $10,000 match with the Remiatte Foundation for our fly control.
In 2023, a local outbreak of Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) caused us to return to the use of feed-thru fly control. We were very happy to see the end of the 2023 fly season without a single case of VS. Each year since, we have purchased MultiFly. This supplement is added to our horses’ feed and has marked a huge decrease in the number of summer sores and irritation on our horses.
Multifly is the most crucial part of our fly control and it has helped our horses immensely in years past.
In 2025, not one horse had a fly sore. In the past, flies would eat our burros’ legs bloody. Thanks to fly control, they are so much more comfortable. We must be able to provide proper fly care again this year. Keeping our horses free from flies is crucial to their health and well-being.
With a large elderly population, many of our horses struggle to kick up their legs and shoo away flies. Fly season is especially a challenge for our horses who have fly allergies.
It seems this year we have skipped winter and spring entirely, and temperatures are quickly rising. Flies have arrived and we need to protect our herd. Fly control includes the feed-through supplement, fly masks, sheets, and medication. With over 100 horses, this is a significant cost for our sanctuary, but it is essential for our herd.

A Message From Tammy From the Remiatte Foundation:
A very huge hello to all of our friends, volunteers and supporters of our beloved ranch!
On this Easter holiday we take a moment to count our blessings for all the good the world still has, and sometimes its very hard to see it.
Every animal at our ranch comes with a story and most of the time they are not good ones. So we count the blessing of Amy Pat and all of you that step up every day to keep making sure life is going to just remain wonderful for these sweet babies and not just horses.
We were very humbled, honored and teary eyed to see that we have new residents named after both Kathy and myself! I hope we can continue to live up to these two namesakes!
All that being said, the Remiatte Foundation is once again happy to say that we will be sending a check for our beloved ranch residents…….soooooooo you all know what is coming!! LOL LOL and that got me to thinking…. I just know some things are needed so let’s do a match grant!!!
I believe I heard that fly treatments are desperately needed as we skipped spring and went right into summer! Flies are the worst pests! They can cause skin irritations, open sores especially for aging horses and ones with fly allergies. Supplements, new masks, medications all assist in keeping this under control and our sweethearts happy and pest free!
So once again I am throwing down the gauntlet down to match our funds to double it for Amy Pat…..maybe a extra treat or two now for Kathy and Tammy too! We have been able to build a medical shed and have the sun room back for the kitties with our last match grant! We love helping our ranch get necessary repairs and grow!!
We have been successful with every challenge and grant and we remain grateful to be in the company of such wonderful volunteers, supporters of our beloved ranch and residents …..Lets keep our winning streak going!!
