This beautiful St. Bernard joined the ranch family on July 2. She had entered the care of County of San Diego Department of Animal Services back on April 19 as one of several stray dogs found running together.
Unfortunately, she did not present well at the shelter. She was noted for low growling, baring teeth, and hard staring. Unfortunately, those behaviors deter adopters. During her time at the shelter, she was also diagnosed with a benign mass on her chest, obesity, and hip dysplasia. All of this made this four-year-old sound perfect for the ranch!
And what a sweet, happy girl she is! She showed up ready to love everyone who approaches her kennel. She absolutely loves her walks (we’re keeping them pretty short until temperatures decrease and she loses a little weight). She is doing great with her training from Sit’s Getting Real dog training too. She loves pleasing people and getting treats at the same time!
In the coming weeks we hope to start introducing her to the other ranch dogs to see if we can find her a buddy. In the meantime, we hope you will join us in welcoming Barley to the ranch.
