Our Dia de Los Muertos Open House was a success!
Thank you for joining us to honor ranch residents who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge over the years at Horses of Tir Na Nog. It was a wonderful event. Beautiful altars created by our volunteers were displayed through the ranch. We also had a community altar where guests brought photographs of their own animals to memorialize. Our nacho bar was a big hit! We had an opportunity drawing that included Dia de Los Muertos-themed items. Our iconic model Missy was featured in our photo booth.
Our attendees were able to explore around the ranch, meeting our residents and learning about our deeply missed residents whose spirits are still present at Horses of Tir Na Nog.
Thank you so much to our volunteers who created the altars that were displayed, as well as our volunteers who helped us prepare and run this event. This was a big event for us and we could not have done this without you! We are also so grateful to our Altar Sponsors: Diana Lubin for Riah, Lisa & Chris Chambers for Sundance, Kelsey & Aaron Harlan for Bambi, Christine Sperry for Sonny, DJ Gove for Milton Burro, Erin Millikin for Officer Clark, Marsha Lewsley for Bravo, Paul Barnard for our Dog & Cat altar, Don & Wendy Telford for Rio Maranon and Madeline Mattingly for Reno. THANK YOU!

Perhaps the most moving part of the day was actually after most of our guests had left. As our volunteers helped to pack up, a strong gust of wind blew through the ranch. It lasted minutes and we all stood in silent surprise. As you may have noticed during the event, our altars and decor included Papel Picado. It is a traditional Mexican decorative craft made by cutting elaborate designs into sheets of paper. It is believed that the holes in the tissue paper make it possible for souls to travel and visit us. When the wind blows, our loved ones come to say hello.
We cannot help but think that extreme gust came from all of the horses and additional ranch residents who spent their last days at Horses of Tir Na Nog. Our herd truly made themselves known. Though we miss every one who has left our ranch, our hearts are full because we know that we gave them the best lives that they could live.
It is thanks to you that we are able to give our animals this safe haven. Thank you for everything you do for Horses of Tir Na Nog.
