Xīng was one of six horses that arrived at Horses of Tir Na Nog on February 27, 2026. They came from a local rescue that had closed.
We believe that this handsome paint was in his late twenties when he arrived at our sanctuary.
He is bonded with his best friend, Tiān. In celebration of their arrival being at the start of the Chinese Year of the Horse, both of them have Chinese names.
Xīng has a beautiful white spot on his face which resembles the shape of a star. He was named Xīng (pronounced shing) meaning “star.”
Their arrival also coincided with Lunar year of the Fire Horse, a time of passion and independence.
We suspect that Xīng has Degenerative Joint Disease. One of his eyes is blue, while the other is brown. We believe that he is blind in his blue eye. Horses with blue eyes are extra sensitive to the sun and to flies, so he wears his fly mask at all times.
Xīng has a tragic history of being a tripping horse. Despite the horrible treatment that he has gone through, he is total sweetheart. He loves his fellow horses and people.
We are glad to see that Xīng has been doing very well at our sanctuary. He prefers to eat out of the same feed bin as his BFF Tiān, and loves to play with his friends, Harold and Gulliver.
We are so honored to be able to have given this bonded pair a new life at their forever home.
