On August 17, 2017 County of San Diego Department of Animal Services seized seven horses as part of an ongoing animal neglect case in the East County. Fortunately, when the horses were made available for adoption, the local equine community stepped up and adopted four of the horses. That left three horses in need of a special place to call home.
At the time, Stellabella, was a fourteen-month-old filly with several bone structure issues, including clubbed feet. Her feet will require corrective farrier work and will most likely limit her athleticism. In addition to these conformational issues, Stellabella was also fearful and unable to be handled. Fortunately, the serenity of the ranch, the talented team of folks caring for her, and the reassuring presence of the other two horses she knew, her sire Sky and Curo, all helped her begin a new life based on trust.
