We don’t know much about Simone’s life before June of 2008. But the little we know of it is heartbreaking. In June of 2008 San Diego County animal control officers went to a home in Campo after Boarder Patrol agents reported a severely neglected horse. What the Animal Control Officers found was an emaciated mare, “on death’s door” and the remains of her foal. The foal had been dead for some time when animal control officers arrived.
The County Animal Control went to great lengths to nurse Simone back to health and on September 20, 2008, thanks to a very generous sponsor, Simone came home to Horses of Tir Na Nog.
Simone is a small dun with a huge heart and an incredible will to survive. No horse should ever suffer as Simone has suffered. We are honored to provide her with a forever home where she will never again be neglected and starved.
