Charger was rescued along with dozens of other horses from the floods in the Tijuana River Valley in late December 2008. All of the horses were returned to their respective owners, except this one.
No one came forward to claim the pinto gelding. This didn’t surprise the staff at Animal Services because the horse had clearly been neglected. He was underweight and had overgrown hooves and a club hoof. Animal Services immediately put him on a healthy diet to increase his weight and had a farrier trim his feet. After several weeks of remaining unclaimed, the gelding was put up for adoption.
Horses of Tir Na Nog, the Animal Services horse partner, was selected to provide him with a forever home. We heartily welcomed him to the herd on January 10th, 2009!
