On Nov. 19, 2014 we first introduced Tecate Red, known as Bravo. He was a 16-year-old American Quarter Horse at the time. He came to our attention through our friends at East County Large Animal Practice (ECLAP). When faced with his chronic lameness, his owner decided to euthanize him. ECLAP took him in and conducted diagnostic work, identifying navicular disease as the cause of this lameness and discovering he has a great temperament. The good news is that Bravo is comfortable and pain-free not being ridden. When Dr. Smith proposed moving Bravo to ECLAP instead of euthanizing him, it was so that the newest member of their veterinary team, Dr. Bear, could practice diagnostic techniques. So, for us, Bravo and Dr. Bear will always be linked. We credit Dr. Bear with saving Bravo’s life and allowing him to enjoy retirement.
Due to space constraints at the time, from November of 2014 until May 19, 2015 Bravo, was boarded at Sun Bear Ranch in Lakeside. We cannot thank Nancy Ellis enough for the fantastic care he received for those first months.
Once at the ranch he met Qianli Ma and they have proven to be a very devoted pair.
