Daisy
Gender: Female
Breed: Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pig
Approximate Date of Birth: 1/1/2010
Sponsor:Daisy was our second pig, arriving at the end of 2015. Daisy was relinquished to Animal Services due to her owner being unable to care for her. She was at the shelter for nearly 4 months. She had a bite on her record. A woman was interested in possibly adopting her. During their interaction, Daisy was sniffing her toes and decided to play “this little piggy” and the woman “cried wee wee wee all the way home.” Of course, this is one of many very good reasons for not wearing flip flops around livestock.
Like Missy Piggy, Daisy is on a chronic weight loss program. She is also a bit more of a Diva than Miss Piggy. Once Mayham arrived, Diasy surprised us with the perfect ‘sit” behavior. We’re not sure if she was reminded of a behavior she had been previously taught when we taught Mayham how to sit, or if just picked it up on her own. Pigs are definitely smart enough to pick up a behavior being taught to another pig.
