Tammy

Approximate Date of Birth: 6/10/2015
Sponsor: The Remiatte FoundationArrival Date: February 27, 2026

This beautiful paint pony came to us at 10 years old. Despite her young age, she has several medical issues. She was born with cow hocks. In horses, cow hocks is a conformation issue where the hock joints point inward toward each other, while the hooves point outward. This condition often causes abnormal stress, arthritis and chronic lameness.
Dr. Rivett did X-rays on her legs when she arrived. It confirmed that she has significant hock arthritis in both rear legs. The hocks are actually fusing. We also discovered arthritis in her right front knee. It is hard to hear this diagnosis in such a young horse.
Tammy is closely bonded with Kathy, one of the other six horses taken in from the closed rescue. They really are the best of friends.
Tammy and her best friend Kathy have been named in honor of a dynamic duo from the Remiatte Foundation. The Remaitte Foundation’s Tammy is a dear friend to our sanctuary. Thank you so much to the Remiatte Foundation for sponsoring them. We are proud to name these two beautiful horses after two extraordinary women.
