All of Our New Residents Have Found Sponsors!

Sponsorship is a huge part of how we are able to care for our over 100 equines.
We are entirely donor-funded and your support is what allows us to run our sanctuary. Thanks to you we are able to be a safe haven for horses who have nowhere else to go. Even when horses are no longer deemed “useful,” they are still deserving of dignity and compassion. We offer a forever home for horses on need to live out their days in comfort and peace. You make that forever home a reality.
These amazing sponsors have also given these residents their new, forever names.
We hope that you will join us in welcoming these four amazing horses into our herd.
Introducing Maribel

Maribel is a Spanish name derived from Maria and Belle, meaning “beautiful Mary” or “star of the sea”
When Maribel arrived, her hooves curled up and were extremely overgrown. This caused her to not be able to walk properly.
As you may have seen on our story with Joe Little from NBC San Diego, we were able to give her her first big trim. Ray, our farrier, had to use a saw to shorten her hooves to healthy length. We estimate that her hooves have not been trimmed in years. Horses’ hooves are generally trimmed around every eight weeks.
Ray and our ECLAP team have been back to work more on her hooves. Her front feet are looking closer and closer to normal.
Though this girl is still shy and nervous, she has made a lot of improvement. Every day she is taking small steps to become less anxious.
Thank you so much to Patty Ducey-Brooks for sponsoring this beautiful girl. Your generosity allows us to give Maribel the proper care that she deserves.
Introducing Xīng and Tiān

In celebration of the Chinese year of the Horse, these two have been given Chinese names. The paint has a beautiful white spot on his face which is shaped like a star. He is named Xīng (pronounced shing) meaning “star.” The bay is named Tiān (pronounced tee-ahn) meaning “sky.” These names are perfect for these two bonded boys. What is a star and the sky without each other?
Thank you to this wonderful sponsor for helping us provide the best care possible for this cosmic duo.
The Lunar Year of the Horse is so special to us. This year is the Year of the Fire Horse, a time of passion and independence.
Thanks to your support, our passion for helping horses in need only grows stronger.
Introducing Beatrice
Our newest arrival has also found a sponsor! Last month, just as we were getting our six new residents settled, the County of San Diego reached out with a request to take in a thirty-two-year-old mare.
She was a neglect case that had been brought to their attention many months earlier. She arrived at the ranch on Monday, March 30, significantly underweight.
Since then, she has been absolutely thriving and we are so happy to announce that she has found her sponsor. Thank you so much to “Cookie Monster” who sponsored her and named her Beatrice.
She is gaining weight every day and has a very enthusiastic appetite. Her skin is starting to clear up nicely. Beatrice is very vocal and greets everyone who walks by.
We also want to give a special thank you to everyone who donated towards her shelter. She will now have a shady place to rest, away from the summer sun.
Thank you so much to “Cookie Monster” for sponsoring this special girl. Beatrice truly is one of a kind. We don’t know how long it has been since she had been given proper care and compassion. But thanks to your generosity, she will receive the quality care that she deserves.
Become A Sponsor!
There are many other members of our herd in need of sponsors. Sponsorships allow us to provide our equines with the best care possible. When a horses’ basic needs are met, we can provide them with a safe and loving environment.
Sponsorships can be funded through a one-time gift or monthly/quarterly donations. We can also help you set up a fundraising page if you would like to team up with friends and family to sponsor a horse.
Full Sponsorship is $3,000 annually. This level of sponsorship includes both Feed Sponsorship ($2,000) and Veterinary Care Sponsorship ($1,000).
We are entirely donor funded and depend on your generosity to care for our herd. Sponsor a horse today.

Remiatte Foundation’s generous match DOUBLES your support to help fight the flies at the ranch, and our horses and burros will be so appreciative!
