In November 2012, the ASPCA made a plea to qualified rescues and sanctuaries to help a Southern California equine rescue that was facing the painful task of closing. While Horses of Tir Na Nog’s primary focus is to take in animals rescued by County of San Diego Department of Animal Services, we also value our long-term partnership with the ASPCA, so we offered to take in two burros whose placement had fallen through.
Jill was one of the two. Her buddy Jack was the other. Jill arrived very cautious of people. Throughout her time with our other, more social burros, she has gained some confidence. But, she is still shy.
Jill is never far from her buddy Jack. Even within the burro herd, Jill prefers Jack's company. They make a striking pair with Jill's white coat and Jack's tall, dark handsome appearance. While we do not know how these two met, their names are a wonderful reflection of the close bond that lead the original Jack and Jill up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
